Wareham occupies a site on both the Rivers Frome and Piddle, close to their confluence into Poole Harbour. Its grid-like street pattern could be of Saxon origin and it still stands within the compass of its earth ramparts. Despite its relatively small size Wareham retains a good range of social, recreational and educational facilities.
Wareham is close to the intersection of the A351 and A352. There is a rail link to London and west to Weymouth.
Between 1994-10, 6.2 hectares of land has been developed in Wareham (the wider Wareham area). The total area of land with permission or allocated in local plans is 9.1 hectares.
Wareham offers a variety of commercial property and modern business parks with the neighbouring Holton Heath Trading Park giving easy access to the Bournemouth and Poole conurbation. Phase I of the Glenmore Business Park is now completed with Phase II under construction and Romany Works Business Park, Wareham Road offers a range of starter and smaller units.
