Weymouth and Portland is a vibrant and historic area with a population of 65,865 (2018) that has been instrumental in the development of advanced technologies such as sonar, torpedoes and submarine systems.

Portland has an active port and which has built upon its Royal Navy heritage by accommodating some of the largest cruise liners in existence. Portland is also host to the National Sailing Academy.
