Bournemouth & Poole College Finance and Business Services
Growth Deal funding up to £2,000,000
Dorset LEP and Bournemouth and Poole College have funded the upgrade of Financial and Business Services building at Lansdowne Bournemouth to provide industry standard training facilities in one of Dorset’s key sectors.
The refurbished accommodation responds to the increased demand for Financial and Business Services facilities, addressing higher level skills shortages, aimed at improving the performance of existing businesses and to encourage the creation and growth of new ones within the conurbation.
Within the refurbished building, Bournemouth and Poole College aims to equip future generations of entrepreneurs with the skills and mindset to run their own businesses, thereby supporting the future of the local economy in Dorset.
The project provides a watertight envelope by overcladding the building, adding double glazing and a new roof membrane. The project has improved the learning experience for students while also reducing the building’s carbon footprint and extending the life of the building by 50 years. Cost and efficiency savings expected to be >£50k pa.
Internal refurbishment has additionally improved access for students with learning difficulties and/or disabilities.
Dorset Local Enterprise Partnership anticipates the funding at Bournemouth & Poole College’s will lead to the:
- Creation of 40 direct jobs, 140 indirect and 50 construction jobs.
- Training of 50 Financial and Business services apprentices and 740 full time students annually.
