The 2014 Strategic Economic Plan revealed certain shortcomings in the process of compiling suitable housing based bids for funding. The projects that were eventually submitted for inclusion were not, in the main, assessed rigorously enough nor were they adequately supported with evidence as robust contributors to the Dorset economy.
The failure of the process was rooted in the lack of time to scrutinise the proposals, the lack of expertise to assess how best schemes could be delivered and in assessing the economic benefits of each project. Whilst relying on each project applicants assessment of their particular scheme.
The £50k of LEP Core Funding is therefore for the post of economic analyst to prepare business cases for housing, regeneration and other relevant projects to support bids for funding.
This funding will produce:
