Sturminster newton

Sturminster Newton has a population of 3,840 people. Sturminster's economy has a long association with agriculture and the food and drink sector, but it does also have an industrial estate with a mixture of industry including manufacturing and engineering.

It is a thriving market town with a newly developed centre including The Exchange, a multi-functional community building and the Creamery Site which is a mixed use redevelopment.

To the west of the town, a major new area of land has been earmarked for employment use. In addition, land is available for housing in the town.

Commercial land

There are two main employment areas: Butts Pond Industrial Estate, which is fully developed and North Dorset Business Park, on the edge of the town on the A357 at Rolls Mill. The total area of land with permission for B1, B2 and B8 and allocated in local plans is 7.2 hectares, most of which is at North Dorset Business Park.

North Dorset Business Park has successfully secured investment to install infrastructure and serviced sites will be available shortly. A project team is in place to manage and market the site.
