Dorset is known as a thriving financial centre and the sector is well established with over 1,600 firms in the county, employing 14,000 people (4.2%) and contributing £1.7 billion (10%) to the economy – marking a 20% growth over the past 10 years.
Bournemouth and Poole are locations of choice for market leaders Ageas, Barclays, Deutsche Bank, JP Morgan (whose campus based in Bournemouth has 4,000 employees), LV (Liverpool Victoria), Nationwide etc. operating contact centres and headquarters in the area.

Career Prospects
Our research from 2019 of jobs advertised in the sector showed that:
- Over a quarter of jobs were for professional occupations - programmers and software developers, management consultants and business analysts and researchers
- One fifth were for sales and customer service occupations and associate professionals where the financial and investment specialism is concentrated. A further 16% were for managers, directors and senior officials - such as chief executives, financial managers and marketing directors.
