Dorset Enterprise Adviser Network launch event
On 19 October 2017 the Careers and Enterprise Company, the national organisation for careers guidance in the UK, and Dorset LEP launched the Dorset Enterprise Adviser Network.
The purpose of the Dorset Enterprise Adviser Network is to create powerful, lasting connections between local businesses and the schools and colleges in their area to equip young people with employability skills and help them to make informed choices about their career.
It is being rolled out by Dorset LEP on behalf of the Careers and Enterprise Company along with delivery partners Dorset County Council and Bournemouth & Poole Council’s joint 11-19 team.
The launch event took place at Kingston Maurward College and brought together teachers, careers advisers, employers and local dignitaries from all across the county.
Speaking at the event was special guest Claudia Harris, CEO of Careers and Enterprise Company, who spoke about the importance of good careers and enterprise provision in helping young people to flourish and lead fulfilled lives, as well has helping to fill the productivity gap within the UK economy.
Delegates also heard direct accounts from Enterprise Adviser Garry Turner and inspirational young entrepreneur Grace Lothian, a pupil at Poole High School.
Dorset LEP is committed to raising employment and skills levels in the county and enhancing health and wellbeing amongst its residents in order to increase productivity and economic prosperity for all.
