Dorset LEP Director, Lorna Carver, will be stepping down in July 2021 after seven years in the role.
Lorna has been responsible for pioneering Dorset LEP from its inception in 2014 and has overseen its development into an organisation managing a £200m+ programme that has driven economic growth across the county.
Under Lorna’s leadership, Dorset LEP is now managing over 60 growth projects, has supported more than 1,200 businesses indirectly and directly through its successful Dorset Gateway business support service, and is responsible for delivering one of the most successful Careers Hubs in the country.
Lorna, whose background is in economic development, is moving on to take up a new senior position at Central Bedfordshire Council. Dr Corrina Osborne, who has been working as Dorset LEP’s Head of Governance & Operations, has been appointed as Interim Director.
Lorna Carver said: “It has been an exciting journey driving so much investment into Dorset and creating plans for the place – such as the securing the recent Getting Building Fund Investment – to help put Dorset on the map and to continue to deliver for the businesses and communities of Dorset. I wish to thank the dedicated Board; their commitment has been inspiring. I am also grateful to the many stakeholders who have been instrumental in building a strong local partnership with shared ambition and vision. I wish Corrina every success in the interim role”.
Cecilia Bufton, Chair of Dorset LEP said: “Lorna was pivotal in creating a dedicated LEP for Dorset which has reaped huge benefits for the county’s economy and living standards. Her dedication to the partnership and expert knowledge has brought in a magnificent amount of much needed public and private sector funding and ensured that this has been carefully invested to generate the most impact. The Board and team would like to thank Lorna for her outstanding commitment and leadership and wish her continued success in her new role.
“We are delighted that Corrina will be taking on the Interim Director role and she will work with the Dorset LEP Board and Executive Team to ensure that we can continue to create a sustainable and inclusive economy as we look to the future."
